Aims

What is Operation Encompass?

Our school/educational setting is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.

As a school/educational setting we have ensured that a member of our staff, known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and through Operation Encompass we will be able to provide the best possible support to our children.

Information Sharing

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies, when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Ms Gillian Spooner (Head Teacher). Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads are Mrs Lorna Siswick (Assistant Head Teacher), Mrs Catherine O'Hara (Business Support Officer) and Mrs Beth Cooper (Business Support Officer). The Governor with responsibility for safeguarding in our school in Mrs Jenny Gurden.
